The Mini-Shred Movement: Burton Snowboards and Mint Snowboard School inspire a new generation of 3 – 6 yr olds to get on board!

“Kids can’t snowboard until they are 7 years old, right?”
WRONG!

Snowboarding for younger children has become very accessible in recent years and slowly the perceived idea that kids are not able to snowboard until age 7, due to build and physique, is being proven wrong.

As soon as kids can stand they can snowboard. Jumps, rails and even simple turns can wait, but they can still enjoy the sensation of sliding on snow from a very early age. Top, professional instruction will make this early stage fun and exciting with learning hidden in games.

“Due to the physical developments of young children and the fact that they have less initial coordination and balance than adults, kids need a more hands-on approach,” comments Tammy Esten from Mint Snowboard School. “At Mint, we have built up a comprehensive program of fun-focused teaching and innovative games… it’s all about learning through play.”

Burton Snowboards have helped drive this new generation of mini-shredders, making huge steps forwards in equipment adapted to little people. Kids’ snowboards have been developed to be super-stable and saucer-like, designed to make it virtually impossible to catch an edge, and they can be easily whipped on or off thanks to simple one-strap bindings. Velcro boots, which are soft, flexible and comfy, make walking to the lifts a doddle.

Then there’s the Riglet reel, a Burton creation that is key for teaching the real ankle-biters!
