Into The Wild – Monday massage with Laurie at the Mountainside Sanctuary
The stresses and strains of winter work and play has crept in, the muscles are aching and the mind buzzes with the endless tasks and plans required to navigate the season. We’re at the February half way mark and it’s been a fabulous season so far, fabulous and busy! So it’s essential to remember to pause, breathe, and allow ourselves the chance to rejuvenate.
Fortunately I had a wonderful gift to pull out of the hat that would be just the ticket, I was given a gift voucher for a massage at Little Wild in Morzine and the timing was perfect to cash it in.
As soon as I walked into the treatment room I left the world behind, it’s a magical space ornamented with candles and crystals and soothing aromas of oils, it’s so cosy, so warm, so cocooning, I could hear my soul breathe. Laurie is very welcoming and calming too, she did a full check in with me and explained the treatment – you see these aren’t your traditional massages, they’re called Rituals and involve working with your energies alongside eking out those pesky knots and boy does it work! A little bit of focus on my breathing at the beginning of the session quicky led me to a state blissful tranquillity and Laurie set to work her magic.
It’s clear that Carrie, who owns Little Wild, has put heaps of thought and care into the treatments that are on offer, from reflexology to reiki, various skin treatments and the Rituals alluded to above, there’s a lot on offer and all draw upon her passion for nature and holistic healing.
The profound sense of serenity stayed with me throughout the rest of the day and I slept like a baby, it’s more than just a moment of relaxation or pure indulgence, it’s like having a whole-body hug that flicks a ‘chill-mode’ switch in every molecule of your being, what a perfect gift and great experience.
