Avoriaz opening weekend – Friday review
Avoriaz opened this weekend with the help of the Rock On Snowboard Tour and Shaun White’s band ‘Bad Things’… and what a weekend it was.
Luckily we managed to grab a stay in Avoriaz to make sure we were first on those slopes Friday morning. We’ve got to say it was great to see Avoriaz open and in full swing after its ghost town feel during inter-season. We especially enjoyed the ski and board test village set up at the top of the Prodain lift. These events just get better and better each year. This year’s test village featured, amongst others, Volkl, Salomon, GoPro and Smith.
Through the day we managed to test over 10 different pairs of skis between us, with no agreement between us which were the best!
We had a quick stop for lunch at the ever-busy ‘Changabang’ on right on the slopes just across from the test village. There just isn’t any competition for their signature chilli and nachos, washed down with a beer and a sit in the sun, it really made the first day of the season all that we have been waiting for!
