RANT : Why do people insist on calling it Lake Geneva?

Eurghhhh! Why do people insist on calling it Lake Geneva? The official name is the Lac Leman and has been the official name ever since the Romans were settled in the area. Yes, the lake is sometimes referred to as the Lac de Geneve, and even Wikipedia accepts “Lake Geneva” in English, but this is pure laziness on behalf of the speaker who typically, like their non-attempts at trying to speak languages other than English, just can’t be bothered.

But did you know that not that long ago, it was popularly called Lake Lausanne as Lausanne was the Lake’s principle town; but thanks to the arrogance of the Genevois, who’ve placed so much importance on the rise of their “great financial” city has meant Geneva has totally dominated the area and commandeered the Lake for themselves. Do we really want to keep on inflating their egos… or should we just make a conscious effort to change the name once again, keep people on their toes, make them work a little harder for it? How about the Lac d’Evian? Anyone want to offer a suggestion?
